CK5003 Thermal Printer Controller Board
DESCRIPTION
The CK5003 is a text and graphics controller
board for Seiko LTP5000 series thermal printer
mechanisms. The Seiko LTP5000 family has 60,
80, and 112 mm wide paper (2", 3", and 4")
models for operation at speeds up to 50 mm/sec.
The CK5003 is a Form-Fit-Function replacement
for the discontinued Seiko IF5003-02B. All
connectors, their positioning, and their pinouts
are a direct match to the IF5003-02B.
FEATURES
· Compatibility
CK5003 controls the entire SEIKO LTP5000
series of thermal printer mechanisms.
CK5003 strictly adheres to all Seiko design
recommendations for head and motor protection
logic and warnings for operation of the LTP5000
series mechanisms.
· Host Interfaces
Both Serial and Parallel ports are provided.
· Environmental Conditions
CK5003 operates over the same operating and
storage range as the LTP5000 mechanisms.
· Head Protection
The CK5003 adds an independent watchdog
circuit that protects the thermal head from paper
out, head up and CPU failure.
A solid state relay disengages the 24V from the
head after a fault or whenever stopped.
Static discharge protection has been added to
all signals connected between the CK5003 and
the printer mechanism.
The CK5003 does not require special power
sequencing to protect the head.
· Diagnostics
A full RAM and ROM test is performed at power
on. The ROM is protected by a 16-bit CRC.
· Power Requirements
CK5003 uses +5V (+/-5%) for control circuits.
+12V or +24V (+26V max.) are used by the
thermal print head and motor.
150 mA typ. is used from +5V by the CK5003
while printing (250 mA max, 100mA max idle).

All Seiko LTP5000 mechanisms are supported.
